LSL Girls Come Up Short at Provincials

imageThe region's two elite girl teams could not reach the play-off
round at the girls provincial championships in St-Honoré,
Aug. 12-14. The pee wee won their first game 12-2 against
Laval, but dropped a 15-8 decision against Lanaudière, just
missing the wildcard spot. The bantam team began just as
easily with a 16-4 win over Outaouais, but a crushing 18-0
l oss against Mauricie ended all hopes.

BWI's lone representative at the provincials was
Evelyn Laferrière from the Mosquito A Royals, playing on
the pee wee team. Evy pitched four innings of no-hit ball in
game 1 for the win, while contributing 2 singles and 2 RBIs.
She completed the tournament with a 2-for-6 record, with
1 BB and a HP, while playing all positions on the diamond
except first base. This was Evy's second participation at the provincials, and she's looking for more BWI girls to join her
next year!
