Baseball West Island Shines Bright at the 2008 Baseball Quebec Gala Meritas

John Janiszewski, BWI Mosquito Convenor and Parks Scheduler, lead off the evening being presented with a Baseball Quebec Volunteer of the Year Award. John was awarded the Lac St. Louis Volunteer of the Year Award at the Lac St Louis Gala Meritas in September, and along with eleven other volunteers in Quebec, was awarded BQ's highest volunteer award.
On behalf of the BWI Board, Executive, and all BWI members, we thank John for his many hours of tireless volunteering (besides convening and scheduling, John also coached a Mosquito B team, assistant coached a Mosquito A team), and congratulate him on his award. The accompanying picture shows John being presented the award by BQ Hall of Famers Claude Piche & Claude Raymond. There is also a close-up of John with his trophy and the evenings program.
A former BWI standout, Matt Langton, was also part of the celebration. Matt won the "Jouer Elite de L'Annee", posting a 15-0 (!) record with the LaSalle Junior Elite Cardinals this year. He also batted over .340 for good measure. Congrats Matt! The accompanying photo shows Jacques Lanciault, Secretary General of the LBEQ, and Denis Boucher, former Major Leaguer and present President of Lachine baseball, presenting Matt with the award. There is also a picture of Matt and his mom Laurie celebrating the moment.
